Snow Days Update

We've had a fun, long weekend with lots of snow. I think we got around 8 inches! It was great having Zach at home with us for several days in a row. Each night after Kinley went to bed Zach and I played card games. If you know our family, you know we love games, but Zach and I don't get the opportunity to play each other very often so that was a fun treat!
As I mentioned, we got about 8 inches of snow starting on Thursday. At first the dogs were less than amused at the amount of snow. They were having difficulty taking care of "business," but Jetta quickly got the hang of it and as LOVED it. Here she is in all her craziness! Covered in snow and happy about it!
Here's Randy the Razorback! He lives in our front landscaping.
Another angle of the front of our house
Kinley loves her chair and spent some time on Friday morning watching Dora or say she says "Dor". She is very fond of Dora these days and sings the theme song. I still haven't been able to catch it on video, but I will.

After a few days of being cooped up we decided to venture out. First stop, where else other than Walmart! We had fun just browsing the store. Here we are in the toy aisle. Kinley got some magnetic numbers for the fridge and Zach and I got Phase 10 cards. I'll got ahead a say I won every game we played! We aren't mentioning the score of canasta, though.

Kinley also found a " te beea" that she had to hug and kiss. We quickly said bye-bye to the bear before he made it into our cart!

Yesterday our church was canceled because of all the snow and ice. So we spent a little while playing in the snow. Kinley loved it! As soon as she walked out the door she wanted to pick up some snow....

and eat it!

And here's her expression after eating it! She kept saying "no toood" which is translated snow cold!
Zach worked so hard on building her a snowman, but the snow was so powdery it was quite difficult so the snowman was very sad looking! Ha! But Kinley was still proud of it

The snowman kept losing his mid-drift and head!

I will say that Kinley has quite a shoe collection for a 14 month old, thanks to a momma and grandmas who love shoes, BUT water/snow proof shoes aren't in the collection, YET. So I had to rig up something so that her feet wouldn't be wet as soon as she stepped in the snow.
Here's what I came up with..ziploc bags with duct tape to hold them on! Zach laughed so hard and called me a redneck! Ha! But it worked!!

Yesterday we ventured out again for more fun...pizza and a party!
Here's Kinley ready for "peace-a"

I tired not to take too many pictures in the restaurant and draw attention to our table, so I didn't get one with her smiling, but she did love the "peace-a" and "bed" which is bread sticks! And so did momma!

After pizza and a nap, we went to Ella's birthday party at The Little Gym. Ella is Kinley's friend from church. Kinley really had a great time. Here she is crawling on the mats.

And through the tunnel!

Here's Ella and her mommy, Amy, blowing out the candles

Kinley was ready for cake. I was a little concerned about eating with the fork, but she did great. After every bite of cake, Kinley would look at me and say "mmm...nummy". Of course she's a sweet lover in this family!!

I love Melissa and Doug toys. These are some stacking/nesting blocks I found at TJ Maxx several months ago. Kinley is really starting to enjoy them. She's finally mastered how to stack them by herself. We spent quite a while playing with these lately.

All in all we've had a fun time in the snow...wait who am I kidding, it's still here and will be for a while! Kinley's Mother's Day Out was canceled today which also entailed a hair appointment for me and lunch with a friend, but that's okay. Wouldn't rather spend my day with anyone else than Miss K....besides Zach of course!
Happy Monday everyone!

Snow Day

The weather man was right. We woke up this morning to a winter wonderland. It has been snowing hard all day and hasn't let up at all. I wish that I would have measured the snow when we got up. It wasn't much because you could still see the grass.
Here's the update at around 2pm. It's just under 6 inches!
If the weather man is right in the snow amount we are supposed to get we still have several more inches to reach 10 inches. We'll keep you posted!

In the mean time, we are enjoying a day at home with Daddy!

Nothing Much

We've been a little under the weather at our house (Kinley ear infection #2) the past few days so not much to blog about. I do have a few cute pictures.
This is Kinley 1 year ago today. Isn't it amazing how much she's changed.

Here's a little sass!
I love this picture of Zach and Kinley! All smiles!

Here's a couple videos I thought were cute. Of course I am biased that think my baby is the cutest and smartest and the list could go on and on! Isn't that what mommas are supposed to do?!!

Maybe the next Food Network star!

(please forgive my southern draw...I cringe when I hear myself!)

Fun!

We have had a fun and very busy week. We've had Mother's Day Out, Bible studies, Moms and Tots class, AWANAs and playgroup and of course a little shopping! Who can resist a trip to T.J.Maxx or Walmart?!!

Kinley and I hosted...and survived...playgroup yesterday. The stay at home moms (and kids) in our Sunday School class get together every other weeks to "play". It is always fun to get out and socialize. This was our first time to host and there was a great group....15 mom and 23 kiddos!

I tried out a new (and very easy!) recipe on the group and I think it was pretty good so I'll share
Chicken Queso Soup:
3 chicken breast, cooked, chopped
2 cans great northern beans
2 cans shoepeg corn, drained
1 can rotel
1 can cream chicken soup
1 can cream mushroom soup
2 cans chicken broth
1 chicken bouillon cube
1 med onion, chopped
1/4 c. butter, melted
1 tsp cumin
garlic salt to taste
16oz Velveeta cheese
Empty cans into large pot. Saute onion in butter and add to pot. Add chicken and seasonings to mixture and simmer 20 mins. Cube cheese and melt with chicken mixture until hot. See, easy!
I only took a few pictures and they weren't great, but here are a few. You can get a semi-idea of the packed house we had. Lots of mommas and babies!!

Don't all girls love to dress up?!
Here's Neely wearing Kinley's tutu and reading some books!
The tutu actually matches her outfit perfectly! Ha! I'm sure Miss Neely intended it that way.

Here's Kinley after a few spoonfuls of dessert!

Tonight is Parent's Night Out! Zach and I are off to a peaceful dinner while Kinley plays with her friends! Fun for all!!

My Newest BFF

It's still cold and snowy at our house so we've spend most of the weekend indoors. I decided yesterday that I would break out my new toy....the Bissell Proheat 2x Steam Cleaner.

Little did I know how much I would LOVE it! We've been in our house 3 years this month and have had the carpets cleaned several times, but I decided I would spend some money I got for Christmas and purchase my own steam cleaner.
I am very embarrassed at how disgusting our carpets were! No wonder we all 3 have allergy issues!! But we are all clean now! This steamer was easy to use and works great! Definitely recommend this one if you are in the market. And it was a little less than the cost to have the carpets professionally cleaned. Should have made this purchase LONG ago!
It wouldn't be right to have a post without pics of the princess! These are some pictures my cousin Jenna took of Kinley on her birthday in Nov.

Catch Up

I know, I know. It has been a while. I keep putting off this post and I know it is only going to be more difficult on me as I am trying to document our lives for Miss Kinley. So bare with me if this is a long, rambling blog! :)

We are trying to catch up from traveling from the holidays. I think we are staying put for a while....at least that's the plan for now. We do love to be on the go, as most of you know.

We had such a great Christmas. We saw over 55 family members and lots of friends, too. Our first stop was Texas. The day we were supposed to leave for our 6 day excursion, Kinley woke up with a fever she had been fighting over the weekend, snotty nose, cough...the works. So we went to the dr and this time it wasn't a false alarm...(sidenote: a few times I have taken K to the dr, she only hada cold that just has to run its course, so Zach loves to give me a hard time about giving our money away to the pediatric clinic!)

This time it was an ear infection...both ears! Poor girl! So at 13 months, Kinley had her first ear infection and first round of antibiotics. When I was 13 months I had already had 2 sets of tubes, so I know I am totally lucky with Kinley. Funny story about her medicines...the dr also put her on Zyrtec, and motrin / tylenol alternated every 3 hours. She loved all of her medicines so much that she still asks for "me-sun". Is this a problem??!!!

After the quick trip to the doctor and pharmacy, we did make it to Christmas in Texas. Kinley had SO much fun with cousins. We even had the neighbor take a picture of the whole gang. It was like herding fleas to get this to happen and I just realized I didn't even get a picture with my camera. Like I mentioned, flea herding! Here's Mammy with her babies, Kinley acing out!

Next stop, south Arkansas. This little rocking chair was my dad's dad's chair. It has been rocked in by all of his children, grandchildren (including me) and great grandchildren. I'm so glad Kinley got to "wock en wock" in it too! She loved it!

Here's my "personal photographer" with Kinley. She's my cousin, Jenna. Check out her blog sometime. She's hilarious and also a talented photographer. Kinley was mainly into wrapping paper this Christmas, but she did find Sean's gloves that she really loves. We all watched her walk around with these gloves on for 15 mintues just staring at her. What did we do before there was a baby in the family?!

We weren't at our house on Christmas, but Santa knew we were in Nashville and he delivered Kinley's presents there. He brought her this playhouse that she loves! Only problem is now it is taking over our dining room until it is warm enough to go outside.

Speaking of outside, it is a winter-wonderland at our house! We have about 4-5 inches on the ground. Kinley and I played in it for a few minutes yesterday, but I am a whimp when it comes to cold. I am really hoping to build a snowman sometime before it melts, but it's going to take one to build and one to watch Kinley. Yesterday she did several face-plants and couldn't get up because she was bundled up so much!

This is up to her knees!

How funny is her hat!! This is for you Mony!

Being "snowed-in" the past few days makes me want to cook, which usually results in eating as well. Yesterday I took my first try at homemade biscuits. I have been intimidated up until now. Over Christmas I decided it is time I learn to do this. I got my dough a little too wet. They certainly didn't turn out pretty, but they didn't taste too bad. I will master them, someday!

This past weekend, Mammy and Pop kept Kinley while Zach and I had a date night to the Zac Brown Band concert. While we were gone, they taught Kinley how to wink. The quality of this video isn't good. This was taken with my old camera...it forgets when to focus. You also get to see a few seconds of a fit at the end. Drama of a 13 month old!

Happy 2010! That seems so weird. It used to seem like an eternity away and now we're living in it. Stay warm!
